Parade of Style, Meet the Designer: Olivia Cerrillos!

Parade of Style, Meet the Designer: Olivia Cerrillos!

The Void.

With our Parade of Homes event just around the corner, we’re happy to introduce you to another one of our talented designers! We sat down with Olivia Cerrillos to give you an inside look into how she designed 4 of our remarkable homes: True Arch, The Void, 64 East, and Moss Hill.

True Arch. After graduating from Meredith College with a degree in interior design, Olivia worked in design-related roles that focused on furnishings, tile, cabinetry, and full-service turn-key remodeling. Her work experience combined with her pleasant and welcoming personality ensure that her customers are happy and satisfied with the design process and can call their new house a home. Outside of work, Olivia is an avid camper and enjoys the outdoors with her husband, family, friends, and of course, her four-legged kids (two German Shepherds).

What inspired the unique designs and themes for your homes?

64 East.

True Arch was inspired by 1930s Durham architecture (it pays homage to the history of Durham)! With The Void, I wanted to show that HBD is more than capable of doing super contemporary designs. 64 East was inspired by the landscape of eastern North Carolina. With the Moss Hill Towne, I wanted to show that our townhomes are just as high quality and stunning as our single-family homes, with lots of great design and features.

What is your favorite part about designing homes featured in the Parade of Homes?

Moss Hill Townhome.

I really enjoy designing for the Parade of Homes because it gives me a chance to try unique designs that allow me to step outside of the box. I use colors, finishes, and products that can inspire future clients when designing their custom home.

Parade of Style, Meet the Designer: Susan Falcone!

Parade of Style, Meet the Designer: Susan Falcone!

As our Parade of Homes event approaches, we want to introduce you to the talented designers behind our 10 unique homes. Each designer chose special selections to fit a particular theme, and we’re excited to give you a behind-the-scenes look into their unique process! This week, our team is happy to introduce you to Susan Falcone, who designed our First Fiddle, Duke’s Revival and Eden Retreat homes.

Not afraid to branch out with a bold feature or fun detail, Susan has several award-winning model homes and Parade homes under her belt, and is excited to share the same creativity with her clients. With a background in the building industry with specializations in tile, she’s passionate about working with her clients to incorporate their personalities throughout their homes, while achieving a timeless design. When she’s not working, Susan enjoys spending time with friends and family, particularly her husband and their two cocker spaniels, Stella and Archer. Take a look at what Susan has to say about the distinctive touch she brought to each home!

What inspired you to create First Fiddle’s unique design and theme?  First Fiddle.

The architecture of this specific plan combined with the beautiful wooded lot gave me immediate inspiration. I knew I wanted something that felt modern yet still timeless a house where you could feel right at home in North Raleigh or in the outskirts of Nashville.

What inspired you to create Duke’s Revival’s unique design and theme? Duke's Revival.

The combination of this house having a true colonial-style exterior and it being located in Durham. I wanted to channel the tradition of a timeless colonial home, but add some fresh, funky details, colors, and finishes to bring it up to date and carry through for years to come.

What inspired you to create Eden Retreat’s unique design and theme?   Eden Retreat.

The vaulted ceilings and beam details in this house and how the sunroom and master bedroom enclose the outdoor living. I knew I wanted to take advantage of the natural light and the views to the outdoors.

What is your favorite part about designing homes featured in the Parade of Homes?

Getting to flex my creativity and really push the boundaries of what we do as a company as well as what I’ve done in years prior for Parade of Homes.

Why do you love living in Raleigh? What is your favorite activity to do here?

The Raleigh area provides a ton of stuff to do, endless places to grab a great meal, and is only a couple of hours away from the coast or the mountains.

Parade of Style, Meet the Designer: Kelsey Hennington!

Parade of Style, Meet the Designer: Kelsey Hennington!

As we continue to prepare for our Parade of Homes event at the end of September, we want to introduce you to another one of our talented designers behind our 10 unique homes! We’re excited to give you a behind-the-scenes look into how Kelsey Hennington designed our Life of Hygge home.

Before joining our team, Kelsey focused on interior design renovations and worked as a project manager for a high-end custom builder. With a natural eye for aesthetics and innovation, Kelsey is passionate about staying ahead of trends and looking for new ways to bring fresh insights and ideas to her clients. A native of Hickory, NC — the heart of the furniture industry — Kelsey is in tune with the quality and craftsmanship of all the products she works with. Outside of the office, she loves to spend time traveling with her husband and their sweet, energetic fur baby. Get to know more about this incredible designer and her distinct thought process!

What inspired you to create Life of Hygge’s unique design and theme?

Life of hygge

A Nordic/Scandinavian theme is not something we often see in this area, so I wanted to start with something fresh and new! I’m in a place in my life of simplifying and being very intentional in what I bring into my home, the people I surround myself with, and just being the most present that I can be. This design theme is really much more of a lifestyle and way of living, and in my design research it felt exactly like what I have been focusing on personally, so it really spoke to me!

What is your favorite part about designing homes featured in the Parade of Homes?

I often have ideas throughout the year that I fall in love with but don’t necessarily fit into that “inventory home” feel, needing to attract the most people as possible. So being able to bring those unique ideas to life during the Parade of Homes is the perfect opportunity to really test the boundaries. I love challenging myself with unique ideas, then translating those challenges in the field to make them happen. So it really turns into a growing and learning opportunity for the whole team.

Why do you love living in Raleigh? What is your favorite activity to do here?

Raleigh is such a melting pot of people and experiences. There’s always something new opening that you can’t keep up! I love that you can literally drive 20 minutes, in any direction, outside of Raleigh and have a completely different experience of food, culture, and nature. Yet we all call “Raleigh” home. Some of my favorite activities include college football, the State Fair, the variety of restaurants and breweries, and hopping on the greenway for a walk or bike ride. There’s always something going on, so finding something to do is never hard.

Parade of Style, Meet the Designer: Turner Hairr!

Parade of Style, Meet the Designer: Turner Hairr!

As we gear up for our Parade of Homes event at the end of September, we want to introduce you to the talented designers behind our 10 beautiful homes! Each designer chose distinctive selections to fit a certain theme, and we’re excited to give you a behind-the-scenes look into their unique thought process. This week, our team is happy to introduce you to Turner Hairr, who designed our Staycation and Belle Vue homes.

Before joining our team, Turner worked in customer service, furniture sales, and home staging, and is equally passionate about design, colors, aesthetics, and customer care. Outside of the office, she loves to spend time outdoors with her husband, daughter, and cocker spaniel, Easton, and relax on the beach at Topsail Island. Get to know a little bit more about this incredible designer and the unique touch she brought to each home!

What inspired you for your Staycation unique design theme?

Staycation

My inspiration behind this home was the beach and the feeling of being by the coast. (Not necessarily the NC coast, but maybe Cape Cod.) That’s where the name “Staycation” came from. I wanted you to walk inside the home and immediately feel like you were at the beach or on vacation. The shades of blue and natural wood tones help to bring this feeling to life.

What inspired you for your Belle Vue unique design theme?

Belle Vue

The inspiration behind this home was California Vineyards. I wanted to do a home that had a French Country feeling to it, but also put more of a modern twist on it. The name “Belle Vue” actually means “beautiful view” in French (how fitting)! The pops of matte black mixed with medium-toned woods and gray-greens are prominent in this home. I have vine-like wallpaper accents and simple trim features throughout to help pull this theme together!

What is your favorite part about designing homes featured in the Parade of Homes?

My favorite part about designing homes in the POH is being able to take risks and give the home a bit more personality. POH allows a designer to do things they may not do on a traditional inventory home. It’s so fun to create an idea on paper and then see it come to life months down the road, and have other people walk through and be able to see and love that theme you worked so hard to create.

Why do you love working in the Raleigh area?

Being in Raleigh is great for so many reasons. My favorite thing about it is the amount of opportunities to be outside. Whether it’s walking a trail, shopping, or grabbing dinner and a drink, there are so many ways to be outside and enjoy the city. It allows you to meet new people and enjoy new experiences.

We can’t wait for you to experience the singular details of the Staycation and Belle Vue homes at Homes By Dickerson’s Parade of Style during the 2020 Triangle Parade of Homes! For more information about this event, please contact us at 919-205-3404.
