2017 Parade of Homes Sneak Peek!

2017 Parade of Homes Sneak Peek!

It starts in early January.
Conversations begin.  Our architect sketches and designers share snippets of inspiration.  Project managers consider, eliminate and plan.   Sleeves are rolled up as ideas move back and forth and then decisions are made.  For more than 9 months those decisions grow, evolve, and take shape…literally.   Spring has its fair share of initial challenges and summer brings long, hot hours as deadlines loom and expectations rise.   Excitement buzzes around our office around the time that the first leaves begin to fall but not because of cooler temperatures or the change in foliage.  Rather, because we are now putting the finishing touches on eight custom homes which will soon be displayed, judged, admired, and adored.  Rather, because The 2017 Parade of Homes is almost here.

Most of you are probably familiar with The Parade of Homes.  In fact, many of you may have already cleared the first three weekends in October on your calendar to explore, browse, dream, and perhaps even purchase one of these stunning designs.  However, for those of you who are new to The Triangle area, you will want to get this annual fall event on your must-do list. Thousands of people will flock to model homes across several counties to view gorgeous, decorated, move-in ready plans.   Homes By Dickerson will be one of many builders participating in this industry tradition yet our final results will clearly stand out among the rest.

Why? Because The Parade of Homes is so much more to us than just an exaggerated series of open houses.   It is in fact an accumulation of almost a year’s worth of work, an opportunity to display our team‘s immense talent and creativity.   It is the perfect platform to highlight our innovation, our passion, and skill through our unique, custom plans and that of our commitment to building high-performance homes.  Most importantly though, it is the ideal way to help you find “The Home of Your Life.”   Because at the end of the day, this is all about you.  Your dreams, your vision, your family, and your life.  Whether you are looking for a clean farmhouse style with rustic elements, a modernly elegant feel with classic design- or anything in between-Homes By Dickerson will be featuring beautiful, exclusive homes for you to enjoy.  Come see our hand-crafted trim additions, wall enhancements, carefully designed layouts, new and exciting color palettes, and so much more!  While we cannot share all of the wonderful details with you (our designers are making us build up the suspense!), we do want to give you a sneak peek of what is to come.  Here are some pictures of a few of the fixtures and design elements we have included in our 2017 Parade Homes.  We hope that they will have you coming back for more!

IT IS ALL ABOUT THE DESIGN, PART IV! EXPERIENCE OUR PARADE GOLD WINNER, THE HAYWOOD!

IT IS ALL ABOUT THE DESIGN, PART IV! EXPERIENCE OUR PARADE GOLD WINNER, THE HAYWOOD!

If you did not get a chance to see our Haywood floorplan during the 2015 Wake County Parade of Homes, there is still time to view this incredibly unique and graceful model home! The Haywood design, which can be found in our exclusive Haywood neighborhood, is located off of Pinecrest Road and convenient to Glenwood Avenue and the Crabtree Valley area. Inspired by Raleigh’s reputation for Southern tradition meeting multi-cultural influence, designer Rachel Bailey incorporated the ingenious thematic blends of Southern charm and French country elegance into this spacious design.

From the moment you see the French country-inspired exterior with its custom designed and painted shutters, you know that you have stumbled upon something creatively distinctive. Bailey wanted to keep light, neutral walls throughout the home and accent them with darker beams and bronze fixtures-very reminiscent of a European countryside estate. However, her inclusion of rich wallpaper accents above the dining room wainscoting and custom glass cabinets also allude to a nostalgic feeling of The Old South. Truly, it is the small details found throughout the home that set The Haywood at the top of the scale. From the plank detail on the study’s tray ceiling and the stained cedar coffer in the kitchen/living space to the farmhouse sink in the stunning kitchen and the painted brick wall in the breakfast area, it is possible to find a different charming detail each time you tour this home. Even the upstairs bedrooms aim to please from the zero-entry shower, generous walk-in closet, custom-glass cabinetry and attached laundry room in the Master Suite to the custom-built day bed in the third floor recreation room.

It was also important that the outdoor living space have just as much of a “Wow Factor” as the interior of the home. Multiple seating areas with walkways and tree-lined views are accompanied by a custom fountain which perfectly complements this beautiful, move-in ready home!

Homes by Dickerson teams up with The American Red Heart Association!

Go Red Sign

Homes by Dickerson is excited to be the builder partner for The American Heart Association in support and recognition of its Go Red for Women Campaign! In order to spread awareness of heart disease, North Carolina’s leading killer of women, Homes by Dickerson has donated one of its 2015 Wake County Parade of Homes to be the official 2015 Go Red for Women House.
To kick off the joint venture, a reception was held in the Bristol model home in the exclusive Homes by Dickerson community in Apex, Madison at Evan’s Creek. The public was invited to learn more about how they can contribute to the fight against heart disease in women and meet local survivors. If you were unable to attend The AHA reception, you can still visit the award-winning Bristol floorplan which is cleverly decorated with gorgeous pops of red in honor of the Go Red for Women cause.

For more information about the Go Red For Women Campaign or to learn how you can get involved, visit Facebook.com/TriangleAHA or call the American Heart Association at 919-463-8388.

It is all about the DESIGN, Volume III! Explore our three Parade Homes in Briar Chapel!

It is all about the DESIGN, Volume III! Explore our three Parade Homes in Briar Chapel!

This week we are excited to give you a sneak peek of our three Parade Homes in the award-winning Briar Chapel neighborhood. Each of these beautiful homes have a very different theme giving you the opportunity to see Homes by Dickerson’s incredibly diverse building style and craftsmanship in one community. Designer Pam Craig and her assistant Olivia Cerrillos started with three popular design concepts and then molded and shaped them to successfully complement the custom floorplans as well as the flavor of the local area. Here is just a small, artistic taste of what each home offers- you will not want to miss touring these stunning designs!

The Oakmont
Craig and Cerrillos bring this colonial-style home to life with their classic finishes. Wanting to capture the “Southern Belle” ambiance, our designers focused on details such as herringbone brick on the expansive front porch and rear patio, elegant trim work, custom built-in shelving and touches of marble.

While the entire home screams Classic Southern elegance through its spacious, well-lit rooms, this home is definitely worthy of twenty-first century praise with regards to technology. The Briar Chapel design team ensured that this southern gem was a balanced combination of old world charm and modern conveniences including a Sonance whole-house sound system, central vacuum, upgraded appliances and much more!

The Belhaven Farmhouse
Looking for something more rustically elegant with a hint of country quaintness? The Belhaven Farm House effectively marries the classically southern farm house with the modern, industrial look. From the moment you see the Belhaven on its wooded home site, Craig and Cerrillos wanted you to get the feel of a traditional farm house from the white siding, rough-hewn columns and herringbone details; however, it was imperative to them to include a few surprises along the way. The rustic and industrial interior finishes mix woods and various metals throughout the home and the barn door leading to the private study is ingenious. You will not want to miss the shiplap paneling, the unique owner’s entry or the gorgeous kitchen cabinets. Take a look at these snapshots and see if you can find them when you visit The Belhaven Farmhouse at Briar Chapel!

The Jackson Cottage
Last, but certainly not least, is our coastal-themed southern cottage, The Jackson, inspired by all of the beautiful destination points along the North Carolina shoreline. Once you enter the doors of this quintessential seaside retreat, you feel as if the ocean is just a moment away with its open and airy rooms, light color palette and use of warm wood details. The design team was meticulous with the details in this home, employing both a butcher block island in the kitchen and a built-in banquette.

It is all about the DESIGN, Volume II! Come tour our two Parade Homes in Wendell Falls!

It is all about the DESIGN, Volume II! Come tour our two Parade Homes in Wendell Falls!

In Volume II of “It is all about the DESIGN,” we travel to one of the Triangle’s newest communities-Wendell Falls. It was not hard for designer Debby Gist to find inspiration for either of our Parade Homes here as the area is brimming with naturally wooded landscaping, hills, streams and of course The Falls themselves.  Gist managed to incorporate these elements into both of her interior and exterior designs while still giving each home its distinct feel.

The Franklin
Franklin Inspiration
There is an evident theme throughout the Franklin model of complementing contrasts which speaks to the charm and character of Wendell Falls. Gist recognized the beauty of this neighborhood with its quiet, woodsy appeal and yet that it is still convenient to the trendy scene of Downtown Raleigh as well as other parts of the Triangle. This wonderful clash of “country meets city” is the first of many inspirational contrasts within this ranch-style floor plan.
While the exterior resembles our Franklin model home in Briar Chapel (a 2014 Parade Gold Winner!), Gist definitely utilized the natural setting of this Newland Community in her exterior color palette which focuses on earth tones. This same color palette is used throughout the entire home from the main wall color of Urban Putty to the Tony Taupe accent color and the Natural Choice trim selection.  The inspiration behind these color choices were organic facets such as seashells, sand, and driftwood. When mixed with different textures like burlap and gauze, a rustically-elegant ambiance emerged, supporting Gist’s aforementioned theme. Small details such as the chosen line of lighting fixtures contribute to the entire package in that this brushed steel lighting is made of clean lines and modern shapes while still possessing an old world feel. The kitchen cabinets are yet another example of a contrasting victory with the outer selections in a glazed eggshell and the elegant island in a coffee-stained maple. The vision was then carried to the bathrooms where the glitz of glass juxtaposed perfectly with the wonderfully coarse tile. One of the last things you may notice, but will absolutely love, is the hint of gray found in both the intricately-veined bathroom tiles as well as in the gray wash-over on the dark walnut flooring. This inclusion completes the overall theme as it marries the browns of yesterday with the grays of today.

The Oberlin
Oberlin Inspiration
The look and feel to our Oberlin Parade Home in Wendell Falls incorporates a more light and airy atmosphere than its across-the-street counterpart. The exterior elevation mixes a variety of colors and materials which complement one another perfectly including shake, stone, hardy siding and custom plank shutters. Even the roofing materials owns the color palette by providing flecks of browns, tans and blue-greens. The quaint porch is hand-stained in a chestnut hue to enhance the natural colors used for the exterior.
Once again, Gist successfully pulls these shades into the home to create the feeling of open spaciousness, heightened by the natural light streaming through the abundance of elongated windows. While her color palette is cooler than that of the one chosen for The Franklin, the effect is not impersonal. Rather her combination of creams and khaki, highlighted by grays and charcoals, result in a very homey and welcomed feel. These touches of creams and grays are also found in the kitchen where the outer cabinets, done in sandstone with a slate glaze, and the island, a sable charcoal, mixes the light grays and browns. However, one of the most unique design features of this home can be found in the glamorous tantrum glass used in the master bathroom. The creams, browns and grays are represented well in these 1940’s inspired accent tiles but it is the introduction of the persimmon pieces which really make them stand out.   While some of the fixtures, such as the industrial pendant lighting over the efficient bar, do lend themselves to a post-World War II romanticism-we chose to dress the stage with a classic summer feel which effectively shows off the 5” espresso hickory floors.   Another feature to this home that you will not want to miss is the charming back porch, stained in the same chestnut hue as the front, perfectly shown for those end of summer dinner parties that last well after the fireflies have come out to dance.

Debby Gist is responsible for all of the interior design and material elements that give a Homes By Dickerson home its signature warmth, livability and luxury feel.  She loves helping customers plan their dream home in the design center where all of the finishing detail elements are represented under one roof. As a former middle school teacher, Debby has cultivated the skill of listening closely to her clients to gain a deep understanding of their needs and wants and shepherds them through innumerable design decisions with sensitivity and a sense of style. In her free time, Debby loves beach combing, working in her garden and spending time with her family. She also volunteers for the Wake County Interior Design Career Advisory Board.
