RECAP: Raleigh & Wake Counties Triangle Parade of Homes 2022

Every year, the team at Homes By Dickerson looks forward to showcasing our newest designs at the Triangle Parade of Homes. From the moment each parade home is conceptualized to the very last hour before judging, our team is working around the clock to make sure these homes are absolutely perfect. It’s not only a chance for us to showcase our quality craftsmanship and design to more people but for us to step out of the box and let these homes be an example of how we design all of our homes.

We’re incredibly proud of the homes we built for this parade that include bold design choices and selections that pulled together our “Homes With Character” theme. We’re happy to share that our parade home entries are award winners, yet again. They are truly a reflection of the months of planning, hard work, and dedication our team gave to bring these homes to life. If you missed this year’s event or have never heard of the Parade of Homes, here is some info and our homes that stole the show!

What is the Triangle Parade of Homes?

The Triangle Parade of Homes occurs annually around the month of October in Raleigh and Wake Counties. This year, homes were available to tour across the first three weekends of October: 1st-2nd, 7th-9th, and 14th-16th. It’s one of the largest Parade of Homes in the country bringing people from all around to view masterfully built and designed homes up close and personal. The Triangle Parade of Homes 2022 was the 57th year of this event!

Triangle parade of homes occurs annually in raleigh and wake counties

The event is absolutely free to the public, so anyone can come to enjoy a closer look at some of the most incredible homes across Raleigh and Durham. Touring the parade homes is always an enjoyable experience for visitors. Many come to discover their next floor plan and home design, see the latest home design trends and technology, or find inspiration in the selected finishes and decor. Others are coming to potentially shop for their next home. (Yes, they are for sale!). Overall, it’s a great opportunity to explore the newest homes and communities throughout the Triangle.

Knowing this would be someone’s forever home, the team at Homes By Dickerson took on the responsibility of making sure every one of our homes was specially crafted and that there was something unique about that home that would fit their life. We always look forward to getting feedback from returning parade visitors and clients in the community. They truly inspire our best ideas by affirming what we’ve done correctly or by making suggestions to make it better.

It’s an amazing thing to be able to show something a little different from the norm and have people comment on how cool the home turned out and how it took them on a journey. That’s what is really special about this event — and The Parade of Homes 2022 was no different! The whole team made sure every little detail was right and that each home was relaxing and really felt like a place you could call home. We also wanted them to stand out from the competition and excite visitors with something a little different from the ordinary modern or contemporary home style.

Parade of Homes Floor Plans Sneak Peek

Parade of Homes Floor Plans Sneak Peek

It is that time of year again, and we cannot wait to show you what we have planned. No, it is not the anticipated holidays, it is the Parade of Homes! Each year in October, our dedicated team works tirelessly to showcase some of the best and boldest home designs. And this year is no exception. Homes By Dickerson is here to take it up a notch with an exciting new collection of homes… with character.

Our theme this year is built around homes with character. For each home, we created a fictional character and a story to represent them living their romanticized lives within them. Take a look!

Lagniappe Rosé in Chatham Park

This beautiful Cooper plan embodies 2,029 square feet of living space with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Inspired by the historic scenery of New Orleans and its southern charm, this home will be designed to the nines. Step into a long foyer to find the glorious kitchen with a waterfall island. Then, explore the primary bath with a zero-entry design and linear shower drain. In this home, you will feel as if you have walked into a southern dream where you can sip iced tea on the covered front porch and then glide through the sliding glass doors to the screened back porch. It is the perfect mix of historic and modern touches.

The story of Lagniappe Rosé invites you to meet Valeria Lucentio. She is an accomplished jazz band musician who falls in love easily. If you are lucky, she will play you a song on the guitar and write a letter that romances you.

Maison Des Fleur in 751 South

The Willow floor plan found in this year’s Parade of Homes will have you traveling to a charming English countryside village. With 7 bedrooms and 5 and a half bathrooms spanning across 3,300 square feet, this home is the quintessential dream home for growing families and avid entertainers. The additional living unit above the 2-car garage is ideal for adult children visiting from college or relatives coming to spend a long weekend. It boasts a beautiful view of the future family garden. Additional features like the fireplace with pre-cast concrete and the creative craft room are special highlights of this home.

While looking out the window at the view of the garden, you will find our Maison Des Fleur character planting flowers with her family. Eight-year-old Sadie Brown loves helping her family with the garden. Along with her twin brother and parents, she lives with her sweet grandmother, who enjoys a spot of tea in her in-law suite.

Grand Vin in Wendell Falls

As the name suggests, the Grand Vin parade home is inspired by Napa Valley’s modern wineries. There are a ton of features to love in this customized Bristol floor plan. Firstly, you will find not one, but two cozy fireplaces. One inside the home and one outside. Secondly, before going up the stairs, there is a quaint dog kennel for the favored furry friend in the family. Thirdly, barrel vault ceilings can be found over the wet bar and in the butler’s pantry. Come to the Parade of Homes event to see even more fun features of this home with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and 2,930 square feet of living space.

Doctor Talia Stoll is the relatable character of Grand Vin. While she loved her life in Sonoma Valley, CA, she could not help but feel drawn to the sweet southern atmosphere of NC. Missing her family, you can find her in the craft room putting together a package for her niece.

Treelight Chic Townhome in Wendell Falls

In this collection of parade homes, we cannot forget our wonderful luxury townhomes. Nothing says “healthy, active lifestyle” like a townhome surrounded by walkable conveniences. But after a long day, it is nice to come home to a relaxing retreat in a chic styled home. This Park Ave floor plan has plenty of room for entertaining and a 2-car garage with ample storage. Throughout the 2,282 square feet of living space, you will find 3 bedrooms and 3 and a half bathrooms. The 10-foot ceilings create an open, airy feel in the large living, kitchen, and dining room areas. The second floor provides access to an uncovered rear deck where you can relax and take in the fresh air.

In this townhome, the story of Sofia Gonzales comes to life. By day she is a journalist and editor, but by night she is either reading or listening to some good music. She loves her private life here with just her and her Yorkie. However, tonight she is headed to Treelight Square to prepare for her dinner party!

These are just a few of the details of our Parade of Homes floor plans and their unique character stories. If you are impressed now, just wait until you see the full designs that complement their layout. Ready to save the date on your calendar or view models that are just as special? Meet the 2021 Parade of Homes Designers

Meet the 2021 Parade of Homes Designers

With the 2021 Triangle Parade of Homes quickly approaching, we wanted to introduce you to the amazing designers who made our five gorgeous parade homes possible! Olivia Cerrillos, Susan Falcone, and Kelsey Hennington are experienced Homes By Dickerson designers, and have outdone themselves this year to create some of the most fantastic home designs you’ve ever seen. Let’s learn more about these talented designers and what inspired them to create such distinctive designs this year.

MEET SUSAN FALCONE

Susan has designed several award-winning model homes for Homes By Dickerson, as well as previous Parade homes. She specializes in creative tilework and works hard to make sure her clients’ personal style always shines through. This year, Susan created the whimsical Mary Alice’s Wonderland and the satisfying Dulce de Leche.

Mary Alice’s Wonderland

mary alices wonderland homes by dickerson

What inspired the look and feel of this home?

The combination of the unique floor plan and the sitting room connector between the family room and primary suite immediately inspired me. The sitting room was the first room in the house that I designed in my head, immediately knowing this house would have a whimsical, vintage vibe. Our project manager’s daughter is named Mary Alice, so Mary Alice’s Wonderland was the perfect name for this home.

What was your favorite part about designing this home?

Can I say all of it? There are so many elements that I’m excited about, but overall, I am just excited to see it all come together. I’m looking forward to seeing if the mood and inspiration behind the design come across for those who tour it!

What do you love most about the Durham area?

The 751 South community is in a truly ideal location. It’s convenient to great shopping, yet easily accessible for someone working in Raleigh, Wake Forest, or even Chapel Hill! Between the shopping, food, and trails, there’s no shortage of things to do.

Dulce de Leche

dulce de leche design homes by dickerson

What inspired the look and feel of this home?

Your favorite coffee shop or spa — I wanted to create a really crisp and clean home. Inside and out, I wanted there to be a coziness to the home while maintaining a light, bright space. I hope it comes across as a fresh and elegant, yet cozy, home.

What was your favorite part about designing this home?

There are so many spaces in this home that I love, but I think the primary bathroom is my favorite of all! Once we knew this home was going to be entered into the Parade, we were able to make some floor plan adjustments to really amp up the wow factor.

What do you love most about the Wake Forest area?

Wake Forest is in such a great location in the Triangle! You get the best of everything, especially in Blanton’s Creek. This is a small community with large, beautiful lots and easy access to the amenities that Wake Forest has to offer, in addition to all the things that Raleigh and the surrounding areas have — food, entertainment, shopping, trails, sports, etc.

MEET OLIVIA CERRILLOS

Olivia’s vast and beautiful design portfolio has centered around furnishings, tile, cabinetry, and full-service turn-key remodeling. Olivia’s customers feel at ease with the design process largely because of her pleasant and welcoming personality. This year, Olivia created the historically inspired Catalog Pg. 4 and the eclectic Uptown Funk.

Catalog Pg. 4

pg 4 design homes by dickerson

What inspired the look and feel of this home?

We were inspired by the historic homes of Durham and traditional foursquare architecture  — the wood moldings, stained wood, brick floors, large windows, and symmetry. We wanted this home to feel like a 1910 historic building that has been remodeled and modernized.

What was your favorite part about designing this home?

The interior brick floors were one of my most exciting parts of the build. It takes a lot of time and details to get brick floors just right, but along with the brick porch, that room is definitely going to be a wow factor.

What do you love most about the Durham area?

Durham has grown so much that there is really something for everyone here! Not only is Durham home to some of the top hospitals and medical research facilities, but it also boasts a thriving artistic scene, the world-renowned Duke University, and a celebrated food scene. Many of our Crystal Lake homeowners chose this area since it is so conveniently located, and it has been great building in a community that makes their commutes to these activities easier!

Uptown Funk

What inspired the look and feel of this home?

The lot that was chosen for this home drove the design and architecture styles.

Because it’s right on Briar Chapel Parkway, we really wanted it to feel like a downtown or brownstone-type of space, but we also needed to incorporate the fact that it is a single family, freestanding home. We went with an Italianate theme for the exterior, which is rich and detailed, and gave the interior an updated, modern twist.

What was your favorite part about designing this home?

Combining so many different design styles. The funkiness comes from these multiple design styles coming together to make an eclectic but upscale house that a family can grow into.

What do you love most about the Chapel Hill area?

Chapel Hill is a really unique area, and it is known to be an environmentally conscious town. There is always something fun happening in Chapel Hill since there are so many fantastic restaurants, local coffee shops, live music shows, and outdoor activities. Locals in the area love how many natural parks, gardens, and trails there are around town- perfect for walking and biking. The homeowners I have worked with are typically drawn to the area because of the incredible school systems, UNC Hospitals, and quick access to Raleigh/Durham.

MEET KELSEY HENNINGTON

Kelsey is passionate about bringing fresh ideas to her clients. With a background in interior design renovations and custom home building, she has an eye for quality and craftsmanship and always incorporates both into her design choices. This year, Kelsey created the industrially chic Missing Manhattan.

Missing Manhattan

missing manhattan design homes by dickerson

What inspired the look and feel of this home?

New York City is one of my favorite places to visit and the meatpacking district/Chelsea neighborhood is one of my favorite areas because of the old, industrial feel. Due to the pandemic, I haven’t been able to travel there for almost two years now, and I was “Missing Manhattan!”

What was your favorite part about designing this home?

I loved getting creative in finding ways to make a new house have an older, industrial feel. From the obvious brick and reclaimed lumber to the less apparent finishes like tile and cabinet colors, this project challenged me in all the best ways.

What do you love most about the Wendell area?

You can feel like you’re in a completely different place by driving 20-30 minutes in any direction! I love the downtown vibe, but you can get to more quaint neighborhoods like North Hills, North Raleigh, Brier Creek, and Wendell Falls in a matter of minutes. Wendell is great because you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city but still have everything you need in a super cool urban setting.

We cannot wait to see these five beautiful homes when they are unveiled at the 2021 Parade of Homes this October, and we hope you’ll join us! For more information on the Parade and how you can see these Homes By Dickerson designer homes, visit Our Parade of Style webpage.

Homes By Dickerson Creates Company Newsletter!

Homes By Dickerson Creates Company Newsletter!

Homes By Dickerson is excited to announce the launch of its first ever newsletter sharing “Inspiration for The Home of Your Life!”

Months ago we tasked ourselves with creating a newsletter which would convey The Homes By Dickerson brand through lifestyle articles, photos, updates, and helpful tips.  Our goal being to connect with those who are still dreaming of a custom home, encourage those who are starting the process, and remain in touch with those who are already part of The Homes By Dickerson family.  Now it is time to launch our newest endeavor and we could not be more excited!

Click here to view the Autumn 2019 edition of our newsletter!

While contemplating when to debut our company newsletter, we immediately thought of Autumn.  There is something incredibly inspiring about the sights, sounds, and fragrances of this season that highlights the spaces in a home.  Outside, leaves are turning deep reds and burnished golds.  Front porches and outdoor living spaces are being graced with flickering lanterns and fall decor.  Kitchens are filled with rich and aromatic spices while family room fireplaces start to blaze and crackle.  Autumn also happens to be when we reveal our custom-built Parade Homes, a line up of nine unique designs which has challenged and pushed our team all year long.  It just made sense that our newsletter would come to life at the same time.

In this issue, our Design Team shares how we are inspired to create the homes we display on Parade.  The reality is that, as a custom builder, our goal is to treat every home as a Parade Home because we are committed to building you The Home of Your Life.  The rooms and spaces that we design are to hold your life in all seasons

Whether you are still in the dreaming phase, looking for a new home, or already a Homes By Dickerson homeowner, we hope that these pages will provide Inspiration for The Home of Your Life!

Finally, we have already sold 4 of those 9 homes and looking forward to helping others find The Home of Their Life in one of our move-in ready 2019 Parade Homes!  Of course, we also have other move-in ready homes across The Triangle that you can call The Home of Your Life today!
