It seems fitting to talk about The Parade of Homes today on this the first day of fall! Even the weather is following suit with cooler temperatures and a scattering of leaves on the ground. We at Homes By Dickerson are excited about the change of seasons but more importantly we are looking forward to the upcoming Parade as we put finishing touches on each of our eight Parade Homes across the Triangle.

Most of you are familiar with the Parade of Homes and all that it entails. Three weekends of Open House opportunities across Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and surrounding areas where one can “ooh and aah” over incredible structural options, outstanding trim work, great landscaping features and gorgeous interior designs. It is no wonder that this 49th annual event is one of the most popular new home showcases of the year and Homes By Dickerson takes advantage of every moment. As a custom builder we see this as an excellent chance to highlight our strengths of building a home with our five key concepts in mind: Quality, Service, Design, Commitment and Craftsmanship. We are not just putting eight specific homes on Parade but we are putting our company and reputation on Parade as well!

Some builders may consider The Parade as an afterthought, something that is fit into their fall schedule; however, at Homes By Dickerson, we take a different approach where we carefully pick our location, home sites, plans and options for each of our Parade entries early in the year and give ourselves months of planning and design time. We know how important it is for our homes to stand out and “Wow” passersby so we pull out all of the stops from unique design to intricate detail work and complementary furnishings and interior decorating. Months of preparation and care go into each home with no detail overlooked so that each home boasts its own personality and character. Barton’s Grove Private Preview Night

It was an exciting night at our Design Center as we hosted our first private preview party for Homes by Dickerson’s newest exclusive community in North Raleigh, Barton’s Grove.

Homes by Dickerson is introducing some new floor plans to our portfolio and we have made some enhancements to some of our most popular designs. Built with the same quality, craftsmanship and high performance certified green features that Homes by Dickerson is known for these estate homes will be situated on wooded 2 acre home sites. Barton’s Grove is conveniently located just minutes from I-540, Hwy 98, Stonehenge Shopping and RDU airport. Homes will start from the $650’s with several ranch, first floor masters, two-story, and multi-generational options.

The evening was a big success with three of our initial 22 home site offerings under reservation and many appointments were set. The construction on the first six available homes is underway and we will be sure to update the progress as it happens. The Langley Forest, the Dougherty II, the Walden Pond, the River Forest, the Tatsworth, and the Riverwalk will be part of the first initial offerings. We also took part in two sponsored limo tours in Carrie’s Reach and in Briar Chapel. We hosted 16 Realtors with Spencer Properties for lunch in our Madison Model in Carrie’s Reach the first week. The Chatham County Limo Tour was the following week and we shared lunch in our Sullivan Model in Briar Chapel. Agents were able to view the homes and learn about our available move-in ready inventory and new and upcoming communities/opportunities.

Raleigh Wake County Parade of Homes Awards Gala

What a night!! Over 600 people in attendance to celebrate the best of the best in new home design, floorplans, features and more! 190 homes on the 48th Annual Wake County Parade of Homes. 148 of them were judged and the winners were announced Wednesday Night at the Raleigh Convention Center.

Homes by Dickerson came home with 4 awards! One Gold, One Silver and Two Bronze for our Parade Entries. It was a great night of celebration and the mood in the room was one of the market has returned and it is a great time to buy a new home. Homes by Dickerson has a total of 7 homes on Parade between the Raleigh/Wake County Parade and the Durham, Orange & Chatham County Parade.

The Parade of Homes is one of our most favorite times of the year! It gives us a great opportunity to showcase our latest floor plan designs, features, color palates, high performance green features and most importantly gets YOU out into our homes to see, touch and feel a Homes By Dickerson home! Every year we meet so many great people and feel this year will be our strongest year yet with 7 homes to be able to our!

Home Innovation Green Partner Award Event Reception

Homes by Dickerson was honored to host the 2013 Home Innovation Green Partner’s of Excellence Event in Carrie’s Reach, our newest community in North Raleigh. Five (5) Triangle Organizations- Homes By Dickerson, Southern Energy Management, Habitat for Humanity of Durham, Habitat for Humanity of Wake County and Green Home Builders of the Triangle were all recognized for the leadership, innovation and excellence in green building of high performance homes. 45 organizations across the country were recognized by Home Innovation as Partners of Excellence, so it was exciting to have 5 right here in the Triangle.

Jon Showalter, former chair of the Green Home Builders of the Triangle and current Operations Director for Homes by Dickerson, welcomed everyone and gave a brief history of how green building and professional third-party certifications have evolved and become so important in substantiating everything going into the homes. Tim Minton, from the Wake Home Builders Association greeted everyone and spoke to the accomplishments in the room as well as the importance to continue to be leaders by striving to build better homes. Michelle Desiderio, VP of Innovation Services spoke to the group and presented the awards. Everyone enjoyed lunch, networking and then concluded with a home tour of some of Homes by Dickerson’s homes at various stages of construction highlighting high performance green features in the homes. Congrats to all the recipients – let us all continue to strive to build better homes.

You can find tons of inspiration on over 59 boards and counting! We have made sure to add photos from many of our most popular floorplans. Carrie’s Reach Grand Opening Event

Thank you to everyone who attended the Carrie’ s Reach Grand Opening. What a fun afternoon! Guests were escorted to the check-in table on golf carts up arrival and picked up Carrie’s Reach mason jars that they could fill with their favorite beverage, use it while they were there and then take it home with them as a souvenir from the day. Thank you to our preferred lenders- Robby Oakes, Kerri Doyle and Patrick O’Connor, who sponsored the transportation for our guests. The sounds of Chris Hendricks filled the air as guests toured the Chamborde, St. James and Beaufort plans and learned about the homes that can be built in Carrie’s Reach starting from the $490’s.

Chef Jessie Scott of Annie Bells Catering cooked up an unbelievable lunch – spring salad, sweet potato ham biscuits, southern shrimp and grits and bbq sliders. Appetizers included red velvet waffle and chicken skewers and stuffed mushroom caps. Wanda Long served up her award winning apple and peach cobbler – yum-o! What a fun way to tour a brand new community and take a break from the office. And congratulations to Kay LaVelle with Allen Tate Realtors for winning the $100 Visa Gift Card Drawing!

Carrie’s Reach will feature 17 large one acre+ wooded hom esites in North Raleigh right off of Creedmoor Road and Mount Vernon Church Road. Two cul-de-sacs will make up this beautiful community and it is sure to sell quickly.
